The 600CC petrol engine is just about adequate to push the car and is good for about 100kph. Though it is peppy to drive around the city, it loses on highway performance. But then again it is not meant for highway cruising and for its intended role, it works well enough. There is a diesel in the works which will enhance its appeal.

The Nano rides surprisingly well for a car of its size. Though the ride does get a bit bumpy as the speeds rise. It may the only rear wheel drive hatch available in the market. But don’t expect it to be doing any power slides any time soon.

The steering provides good feedback and doesn’t come with power assistance. The high ground clearance means you can venture off road and can shame some off-roaders too.

For a car that has such a tiny footprint, the nano is surprisingly spacious, Thanks to the clear use of space and placement of engine. Having the engine in back means a lot of space is liberated for passengers. The seats are placed high which means getting in and out is not a problem even for older people. The boot space however, is tiny and is also heated thanks to the engine being right under it. Access to the boot via rear seats only as there is no fifth door.

The nano is a brilliant car for the price. It is spacious, Practical, easy on the pocket and in almost as frugal as some big bikes. It is primarily aimed at customers who are upgrading from two wheelers. And for those customers, the nano provides a logical step up.

But if you have owned any car before, you might feel the nano is just a little too minimalist. But minimalist or not, the nano is certainly a much safer means of transport for people who move families on two wheelers.

Fiats have been around for the past two decades in India.

The Fiat Linea was launched with a 1.4Litre petrol engine with 88Bhp and 1.3litre diesel with 90bhp engine, both engines are refined but the petrol is not exactly quick or even that efficient. if you want fun then you need the Linea T-Jet. The 1.4litre turbopetrol puts out 113bhp and gives 207nm torque.its fantastically quick and lets you exploit this very able chassis to its limit. The driving experience is quite good but if we have to nitpick, the gear shift feels rubbery and imprecise. Not something you appreciate during quick shifts.

This again a place where Fiats scores highly.it rides exceptionally well and is very stable at speed.Its take a lot to unsettle the Linea.And not only does it ride well. The linea handles very nicely too. Point it into a corner and the linea will gamely fallow your line and will beg to be pushed hard.

The linea might be a great looking car but all these sharp lines and the sensual styling does have an impact on interiors space. not that its cramped, it offers decent room for front and rear passengers but could have done with some more rear legroom. A massive boot also adds to the lineas practicality. Creature comforts include fiats blue and me system which can connect your phone to the audio system via Bluetooth.

Just like the punto the linea is a car you buy with your heart and not with your head.Its looks gorgeous and drives well.Through with the linea you get the option of the brilliant 1.4litre turbopetrol. But for most people the Linea mutlijet will do the job just fine.

The figo comes with a choice of two engines. 1.2 litre petrol that makes 70Bhp and 102Nm torque. It is adequate for pottering around town, but don’t expect to set the roads on fire with it.

The diesel 1.4Litre common rail engine makes 67Bhp and 160Nm of torque. The figo diesel feels better to drive even if it isn’t as quick in a straight line as the petrol.

Zero to 100kph for the diesel comes up in 16.9Sec, which isn’t the quickest, but the torque wave makes you feel it’s quicker.

The figo has good room for its occupants. The seats are comfortable and work well even on longer journeys. You will find some features missing even in the top end variants like lack of rear power windows. Plastic quality is decent but we aren’t big fans of the henna coloured dashboard in top end variants boot space at 284Litres is quite good for s hatch this size.

Ford has always been enthusiastic handlers and the figo doesn’t disappoint. The steering is sharp and body control is good giving the driers confidence to pile into corners without hesitation. You will really enjoy throwing the figo around. We wished there was more power to exploit it. Ride quality is stiff at lower speeds, but get much better at higher speeds.

The figo is currently the car to have if you want something smaller then swift or i20. It is capable package, but we feel ford shouldn’t have cut down on the rear power windows.it drives nicely and priced well too. If you prefer handling over ride, you will like the figo.

Hyundai Eon is a 3cylinder,9valves 800cc petrol engine gives 55HP and 75Nm torque offers reasonable performance.Eon comes with 5speed manual transmission.

Hyundai Eon soft suspension should ensure a good ride.This also means there is a lot of body roll around corners.

Honda has recently reduced their cars prices. Honda has now decided to enter competitive compact hatchback market in India.The brio slots in below the jazz and hopes to give nightmares to the likes of the Hyundai i10, Chevrolet beat, and the ford figo.

The engine in the new brio is carried forward from the jazz which is a 4 cylinder 16 valve,1.2Litre engine with 87HP power and 109Nm torque which makes it a breeze to drive in city traffic.

The transmission is 5 forward gears and 1 reverse gear with manual transmission.

The steering is a bit on the lighter side and quick lane changes fail to unsettle the car despite the fact that the steering is not as responsive as you would expect it to be.the light steering helps maneuvering the car swifty in traffic.it is a collapsible electric power steering with 4.5m turning radius.

Dynamically, the Brio is quite sorted,but steering feel could have been better and that would only add to the overall driving experience.the brio is one car that cannot be mistaken for anything else with its all-glass hatch.the brio has lots of space even at the back. Honda has gone for a beige palette,which looks pleasant and adds to the overall feeling of space.the top end comes with USB and AUX inputs for music system with steering mounted controls and comfortable seats.
