CRDI System:

Common rail diesel injection is a modern variant of fuel injection system for diesel engines. It features a high-pressure injection up to 2000bar. CRDI is an intelligent way of controlling a diesel engine with use of modern computer systems. CRDI helps to improve the power, performance and reduce harmful emissions from a diesel engine. Conventional Diesel Engines (non-CRDI engines) are sluggish, noisy and poor in performance compared to a CRDI engine.

Common rail diesel injection system does not required heating up time. In this system two fuel pumps will be there, one pump will supply the fuel from tank to another pump through diesel filter with lesser pump pressure. From there the fuel will be supplied to common rail with high pressure.

Common rail have a connections to the injectors directly. The injectors will be operated by ECU electrically.ECU receives signal from cam sensor and flywheel sensor for knowing the pistons positions in the cylinders to inject the fuel at correct time in respective cylinders.

The ECU (Electronic Control Unit) will receives the signals from various sensors like accelerator sensor, cam sensor, flywheel sensor, air pressure sensor, vehicle speed sensor and determines itself to inject the quantity of fuel to be injected in each cylinders.

Now a day’s common rail diesel injection system coming in all cars and commercial vehicles to meet the emission norms as prescribed by the Government.
